HOW TO APPLY FOR A CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE IN WISCONSIN

Qualifications:

 

  1. Wisconsin residency.

  2. Be at least 21 years of age.

  3. No felony conviction.

  4. Not currently subject to a court order or condition of bail.

  5. No conviction of domestic abuse.

  6. Proof of training.

 

The 2 Steps:

 

  1. Take an approved concealed carry class.

  2. Make your application.

 

The Application Process Options:

 

Option 1:

 

  1. Go to the Wisconsin DOJ website, application page:  https://concealedcarry.doj.wi.gov/ccwonline/steps/startApplication.html#!

  2. Fill out the application on line.

  3. Pay by credit card.  ($40.00)

  4. Submit your proof of training certificate as a pdf file.  (Scan your certificate in advance.)

 

Option 2:

 

  1. Go to the Wisconsin DOJ website, application page:  https://concealedcarry.doj.wi.gov/ccwonline/steps/startApplication.html#!

  2. Download the application form as a pdf file.

  3. Print the application form and fill it out manually.

  4. Write a check, made out as directed, in the amount of $40.00

  5. Made a quality photocopy of your proof of training certificate.

  6. Mail the filled-out application form, your check, and the photocopy of your proof of training certificate to the address provided.

 

With either option, you should receive your license by US Mail within 21 days.

 

Note:  There are alternatives to taking an approved concealed carry class to obtain proof of training certificate.  Proof of having taken an approved Hunter Safety class, past law enforcement service, or past military service may suffice.  However, it is important to note that these alternative options do not provide you with knowledge of the critical legal aspects of Concealed Carry, especially if you are involved in a defensive incident, and therefore, should be viewed as substandard.
